 Now how it works.

First of all the source of the copy - it can be either an event of the same club as to which the new event belong. Or it can be some others club event. In the latter case, it is needed to ask the other club for allowance to use the entries from their club (probably some GDPR or sailor's data protection documents might be involved, since sailors have to be notified about this possibility). So lets say that club A wants to create an event with some entries form event from other club (club B).
Responsible person from club A contacts club B and ask them to go to the event detail in Portal, go to "Boat team related" tab and in the relevant drop down (Allow access to those clubs) select the club A.

Now the Club A should be able to see the event in the event search of the Entries copy tool (In Portal, under Tools menu of the new event).
However since it is not good to give all the people from CLUB A access to event data of the other club, it is needed for the user of Club A to have the "Other club event data operator" grant set in his/hers user profile. Without it, the user will be able to copy the entries only from the events that belong to the same club as he/she.

After that the user is presented with a entries copy settings. He can configure the competition mapping. The mapping is basically saying from which competition the entries should be taken and where they should be inserted into. You can copy all the entries, or just some of them. You can also select to copy only entries in particullar state (Pending, Approved). You can make the settings on the global level (will be applied on all the mappings) or on the mapping level. There are some advanced features like SRS+ certificate validity checking or Swiss Admin Id validity check that can be performed during the entries copy. Please note however that those special features make the copy much slower so it is adviced to copy competition by competition in case of using those.

First the application runs so called "Dry run" or "Test run". This run will yield the results as if the changes were saved. It gives the operator chance to fix the issues if any, or to check how the copy will be performed. If the operator is satisfied with the test run result, he can run the real copy where all the changes will be saved to DB.

The entries copy feature is done in a way that should be possible to run the copy multiple times, without duplicating the data in the target competition.

All the copies created like this are created in a way just like the checkin user would have created them, so if the entry was originally registered by the sailor himself, the copy will NOT show under his profile (just like it would not show if the checkin user would create the registration in the checkin module of the new event by hand)
