[Anleitung/How-to solution] Handicap-Regatta mit Wertung schnelleste Boot/Handicap Regatta with Scoring for Fastest Boat

(sprich: [Position+Zeit][Zeit] [<Segelnummer>] Ziel [<Uhrzeit>])
eingeben sondern unbedingt Einlaufzeit und die Platzierung
(sprich: [Position+Zeit][Zeit] [<Segelnummer>] Pos [<Platzierung>] Ziel [<Uhrzeit>])

The following simplified procedure now works as Manage2Sail/ST Software was that kind to implement my feature wish :-)

As many in clubs, we have a handicap regatta (Yardstick to be precise) with two scorings:
  • Main scoring using the handicap-corrected calculated time, with prizes for the first three
  • Additional scoring for the fastest boat (first ship home), i.e. the one which actually sailed in the shortest time
The main scoring is done as usual: in the ORM module, go to "Setup" and then to the "Scoring" tab of the class. For the "Default" scoring, simply enter:
Handicap System: [Yardstick]
Enter calculated time [ ]

For the additional scoring for the first ship home, use the following (new!):
Name: [Sailed Time]
Use Custom Settings [X]
Handicap System:
[Yardstick]
Enter calculated time
[X]

When entering the results under "Races" in the Results Editor, you only need to enter the finishing time. — That's all.

Hence: For the main scoring, one has the result table with sailed time ("Time") and the handicap-corrected time ("Calc.") with point-scoring and sorting using the calculated time. And for the additional scoring, the table has only the uncorrected sailed times (for both "Time" and "Calc.") and, therefore, the points and sorting is based on the actually sailed time (i.e. in the order of crossing the finishing line).

Old method of 2017 (which still works): For the additional scoring, choose "Handicap System [One Design]" — but note that one additionally has to enter not only the time but also the position in the result editor, i.e. while for the new one, it is sufficient to use
[POS+Time][Time] [<Sail number>] Finish [hh:mm:ss])
for the scheme with one design, one shall enter time and position:
[POS+Time][Time] [<Sail number>] Pos [<Position>] Finish [hh:mm:ss])
Hence, one has to enter twice as much data and has another source of errors. — In addition, only with the new scheme, the fastest-ship result list also shows the sailed time and not only the points, which is something some sailors love.
